LLANDAFF CATHEDRAL
This particular site has had a Christian presence since the 6th Century
The proof of this is shown in the different grave markers and crosses throughout the graveyard.
The current building can be dated from 1120, when a Welshman named bishop Urban brought the remains of St Dyfrig and his relics from Bardsey Island, who was claimed the first bishop of Llandaff.
Since the early 18th Century, the cathedral went under three major restorations. This includes the nave being roofless after the collapse of the south-east tower, where an architect by the name of John Wood the elder of Bath built an entirely new cathedral above the area in the style of an Italianate temple.
